New projects, follow us on Twitter!

June 26th, 2009 by Scott

Hi everyone! Needless to say, we’ve got our hands full with our new, amazing twins. But we are starting to move forward with some projects related to A Year in Europe, too! We invite you to follow us on Twitter to keep up-to-date with our new endeavors. We will be archiving the blog - you’ll still be able to view it, but comments will be turned off. We’ll also be putting up a new home page soon. Thanks for your continued support!

Catching up with Scott & Sheryl

January 24th, 2009 by Scott

Just a quick note to update everyone on some recent events. First of all, Sheryl is pregnant and we are expecting twin girls! Needless to say, we are beyond thrilled and eagerly preparing for their arrival. We know this will be our next great adventure and we are embracing it. And we’re already dreaming up some travel ideas — trips for when they are a bit older.

We have really enjoyed knowing that our podcast continues to bring enjoyment to new listeners, even though it has been more than a year since our return. Understandably, influenced by recent events, we’re looking a ways to adjust our budget and we will be ending the podcast feed (XML) at the end of the month. In the future, if there is enough interest, we may look at ways to distribute the entire series on disc (perhaps with a selection of photos and some previously unreleased content, too?) for a reasonable price.

For now, we continue to appreciate your support and we are looking forward to this next chapter in our lives.

Neutra 16 City Fiesta!

Podcast listeners will remember my “Logan’s Run” moment in front of the Pavilion of the Future on La Cartuja in Sevilla, Spain. One of my photos was featured in the recent issue of the review of the Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de Sevilla. Here are a couple photos of Neutra 16 and the original photo that was published.

Scott’s Etsy Shop Now Open

July 30th, 2008 by Scott

I’m really pleased to announce that I’ve opened up a shop on Etsy where I will be selling my original paintings, prints and photographs.

I have a couple of new screenprint editions currently available that might be of interest to AYIE listeners.

One depicts a night scene of the fountain in Piazza della Rotonda, which is right in front of the Pantheon in Rome.

To check out what I currently have available, visit scottandress.etsy.com. I’ll continue to add new pieces to the shop as they become available.

Inspiration from Europe: Paintings, Prints and Photos

July 4th, 2008 by Scott

Paintings, Prints, Photos

We talk a bit about what we took away from our trip on our final podcast. But there is something else I took away from our journey that I didn’t mention - inspiration. Most are aware of my enthusiasm for photography, but during the past year I’ve been exploring other ways to reflect on our European adventures. Over the past few months, I’ve been doing some painting, much of it inspired by some of our favorite places. More recently, I’ve been learning about screen printing, too, which is a creative process I really enjoy. If you’d like to see more, check out my new Studio site featuring a gallery of my paintings, prints and some of my favorite photographs.

Photo prints now available

Vernazza Doorway

I’ve recently started to go back through the many photographs taken over the course of the year. I’m not kidding when I say that there are thousands of them! The majority of them adequately serve a purpose for us, as personal reminders of our travels. But some, I think, are composed and imaged well enough to print for display. I’ve been picking out and editing a few of my favorites from our original files. This week, I made several of these photographs available for purchase through Imagekind.com. It is a new-to-me service, but I’ve heard good things about it and thought I’d give it a try. There are lots of paper and framing options available. I’ll be offering more photos there over the next couple of weeks. And if there are other photos you’d like to see available for printing (some you may have seen through flickr), let me know.

Another reason that I’ve started to go back through our original photo files? Maybe there’s a “Photographs from A Year in Europe” book in the works? We’ll see…
